Ottawa Storytelling Festival 2007

November 1-4

The 19th Annual Ottawa Storytelling Festival is scheduled to take place during the first weekend in November 2007.  We are very excited about the festival this year and are now calling for proposals for storytelling sets in either French or English.

This year Ottawa Storytellers are taking a chance . We are asking characters like you for submissions for our November Storytelling festival.

The working theme for this year’s festival is characters that take risks. The characters may be rogues, fools, renegades, rascals, or heroes. The stories may be folk tales, legends, or personal stories. They may be true, impossible, or  historical. The risks these characters take could be grand and amazing or very small. We are looking for stories about characters that are larger than life and fill a room with their adventures.

The dates for telling at the festival are Saturday, November 3, and Sunday, November 4, 2007.  The festival begins with an open Story Swap on Thursday November 1.  The always fun and eagerly anticipated Storyteller/Volunteer potluck dinner will take place on Friday, November 2.

The deadline to receive applications will be Sunday, April 15, 2007.  We will accept applications either electronically or by mail. You may apply in either French or English.  All applications will be reviewed, and you will be contacted no later than June 2007.

We thank you for your interest in our festival.  If you have any questions, you may send an e-mail to ottawa.storytelling.festival@gmail.com or contact Kathie Kompass at 613-228-2195.  From April 10 to May 9, you may contact Marva Blackmore at 613-226-2972.
