Storytelling on the Bruce.

If you happen to be holidaying on the Bruce Peninsula this summer take advantage of the vibrant storytelling scene.
Every Monday from June to Labour Day Storyteller Ron Baker hosts the Storybarn in Dyers Bay. From 7-9 p.m. Ron delights listeners of all ages with a range of stories from his extensive repertoire. He chooses his stories to suit his audiences. This is the second year of the Storybarn. Last year was a great success.
Some comments from listeners:

  • Thanks! it was  wonderful!
  • What a  treat!
  • Beautiful  experience.
  • Amazing!
  • The Storybarn is  magical.
  • Not just children enjoy a  good story.
  • Such fun. Thank  you.

Fabulous stories told by a fabulous Storyteller.

Entry to the Storybarn is free but donations to the Stephen Lewis Foundation are appreciated. Last year $1940 was contributed to SLF.

Every second Monday the Storybarn Tellers join Ron. The Talking Stick is passed around the circle and everyone has an opportunity to tell or to pass along the Talking Stick.

While you are up in the Bruce also plan a visit to Paul and Leslie at Voyageur Storytelling for their Country Supper and Storytelling Concerts. Every evening except Mondays. This is their ninth season.

Check their website: www.voyageurstorytelling.ca

In the Fall the Bruce Peninsula Bird Observatory is sponsoring a Storytelling Master Class. This is a fundraising for the Observatory, which carries out a program of Migration monitoring at Cabot Head. (just north of Dyers Bay).

The workshop, led by Ron Baker will be on ‘In Role Storytelling’. This will be similar, (but not the same) as the very successful Master Class Ron led at the Storytellers of  Canada conference on Victoria  last year. The purpose of the workshop will be to explore the process of entering a story and telling it from the point of view of someone who was, or who could have been, in the story.  A useful and challenging art for any storyteller.

Participants will stay in Grebe Lodge in the middle of a Provincial Nature Reserve,

Accommodation and meals included. 17-19 September. $250.

Check www.bpbo.ca or  contact Ron  ronbakerbpbo@sympatico.ca for more details

PS. If you or your family are looking for a wilderness experience in an isolated cottage this summer -check the Stewardship Program of the Bird Observatory, www.bpbo.ca

(Ron administers the Bird Observatory).
