Venue: Lillian H. Smith Public Library, 239 College Street

Instructor: Carol McGirr

Are there basic themes or motifs in written and spoken literature which may help to explain the timeless appeal of certain stories? Do the ancient hero, Gilgamesh, and the modern hero, James Bond, have more in common than what we might suspect?

In this course we will consider and discuss basic plots which form the foundation of many stories, and recurring patterns which shape the direction in which the characters move.

All storytellers and story listeners are invited.

Instructor: Carol McGirr is a featured storyteller on StorySave, a project of Storytellers of Canada/Conteurs du Canada, whose mandate is to identify and preserve the unique voices from among the elders of our storytelling community.
