Storytelling III: Master Class
Dates: 6 Tuesday evenings, January 8 - February 12, 2008
Time: 7 - 9:30 pm
Venue: 42 Vermont Ave. (Bathurst/Dupont)
Fee: $275 (GST incl)
This course offers experienced storytellers the opportunity to work intensively on a story and receive useful feedback on both the story and the telling. We will focus on two important skills. The first is critiquing: how to ask for and receive criticism as a way to improve your art, and how to give criticism that will be helpful to others. The second is managing the transition between the written word and the told story. This skill is crucial for tellers lifting a traditional story from the page and for those wishing to create a story orally and in written form.
Participants are asked to come with a story they wish to work on.
Instructor: Celia Lottridge Co-founder of The Storytellers School of Toronto, Celia has taught numerous storytelling courses. She is the author of prize-winning retellings of folktales and has co-authored Telling Tales: Storytelling in the Family.
