What is the StoryJam Co-operative?

We are a group of professional storytellers, with backgrounds in education, child development, business, psychology and writing. The program we have developed allows teachers and group leaders to introduce storytelling to young people as a classroom or group activity.

The StoryJam program has been developed to make it easy for teachers to bring storytelling into the classroom, and to link storytelling activities directly to the Oral Language outcomes described in the Ontario Curriculum.

The StoryJam program is dedicated to sharing the art of storytelling with young people, helping to create the next generaton of storytellers.

For costs and information on how you can get started in your classroom contact one of the StoryJam Co-op members:

June Brown:
Years of experience with children of all ages has led June to the belief that inside each and every child there is a would-be storyteller, and that oral stories help build the foundations of literacy.

Bruce Carmody:
A retired educator with over 20 years experience as a storyteller, Bruce shares an infectious enthusiasm for stories that captivates young and old alike.

Anna Kerz:

Laurie Malabar:
Laurie believes stories are essential to open young minds to imagination and wonder and to create the foundations for literacy.

Goldie Spencer:
Goldie’s background in drama and theatre complements the storytelling experience. She has helped tellers of all ages prepare and present their stories.
