Dan Yashinsky founded the Toronto Festival of Storytelling (in l979), and co-founded the Storytellers School of Toronto. A working storyteller since l977, he has travelled to many parts of Canada and around the world telling and collecting stories. In l999 he hosted Talking Stick, a national show on CBC Radio One. As a teller for children and teens, Dan works mostly with grade seven through high school. He created a curriculum program called The Telling Bee, produced Future Folklore (a Toronto-wide story-creation project), and conceived the Remarkable Story Jam (a project encouraging children to tell stories they collected). He is the author of Suddenly They Heard Footsteps - Storytelling for the Twenty-first Century (Vintage Canada).
